Greetings. It has been a long time since we sent a report your way. In this report I will highlight the New Matilda school at Devarkonda and the February dental camp which drew a thousand patients in a week's time. The other Veda programs are doing well. Thank you for your continued prayers. The new school at Devarkonda. We thought that we could give you full and comprehensive report with pictures on the new school at Devarkonda by this time but we still have some unfinished work left such as doors windows, flooring and partial plastering. We are not moving into this new structure till August this year and the land lady of the present school has kindly consented to let us stay for another 3 months. The new school will become operative from August 20th with all
the furnishings including wall paintings. What was thought
impossible two years ago now seems to be so possible through so many prayers and
contributions. The Lord gave us His word to go ahead and wait
patiently 7th class resultsWe received the results of the 7th class government board exam. All 22 students who wrote the exams obtained 1st division Every mark that a tribal or untouchable child earned is a mark of excellence. This year we upgrade Mallepalli school to 10th class which is the final year in High school. May God be praised! Dental Clinic (for photos click here)I have never seen so many teeth pulled out in my life. They are of different sizes , shapes from 6 olds to 70 years. The five-day dental camp was conducted by the Christian Dental teams from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Taiwan under the sponsorship of Taipei International Church. Sixteen doctors, aids, and volunteers pulled teeth from morning till evening and treated 300 patients every day covering over 1000 patients during a five-day period. The Mallepalli and Devarkonda region has never seen such Christian service. "Who are these people?", one patient asked me. "They are so gentle yet firm." There had been many such questions. Obviously everybody wanted them to come back. Nikita, an 8-year-old who has a body deformity, preserved her two teeth which were pulled. They remind her of the kind doctor who pulled them out. The Lord continues to bless our work and give meaning to our lives. There are more requests for Bindu sponsorship this year. At present we have 50 needy children in our home. A child costs US$ 20 per month for total upkeep. We provide you with a photo, a progress report card and correspondence from your child. Project cowSeed money was donated to purchase five Jersey cows this year for augmenting nutrition for Bindu children's diet. We give a glass of fresh milk to each child and sell the remaining milk to a government co-op milk center. We save the extra money for the college education of the Bindu children in a savings bank. It costs Rs 15,000 to purchase a cow and another 15,000 to raise green fodder and pay for insurance. The female calves are kept in the shed and male ones are sold away after three months. Prayer requests.
