THE VILLAGER: 6-1-07

The woman said, “Your servant my husband is dead, but his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a little oil.” 2 Kings 4:1-2.

Child sponsorship:  There are 25 boys and girls under 10 years of age in our Bindu Home where we care for children from destitute backgrounds. They all need sponsors. Unless we find sponsors they are vulnerable to being taken away under force by creditors to work as day laborers, and housemaids.

They will be carried to distant lands to work under difficult circumstances in places where they don’t know the language. The children are under the threat of losing their freedom. And their identity.  The creditor is a harsh reality, a person who will not look into their eyes pleading for mercy until the dues are paid.

To sponsor a child it costs US$25 per month, or $300 a year. This money covers all the needs of a child to live in a Christian home.

Bindu Home, a place of warmth and Christian atmosphere, is currently providing education and shelter for 125 children. The home is attached to Matilda High School (English speaking) at Mallepalli village, and provides education from nursery age up through grade10.

Church planting:  The local government is very kind to Christians and I feel that it is time we make inroads into interior rural areas where the Gospel has not been taken to the people so far. This we want to do while taking education and health care to where they are.  There are many tribal villages surrounding Devarkonda and Mallepalli in the hills. It may be difficult for us to bring people to townships but we can go to them.

India is a large country with multiple needs. Pray that the Lord opens many channels for ministries. I have a burden to plant 10 village churches this year.  To build one church measuring 25x 40 square feet. costs $5,000.

Other Programs:  Our regular programs are running well. The two formal schools surpassed capacity of 1000 students this academic year. All state schools are re-opening this week after the one-and-a-half month long summer holidays.

Our sewing center added embroidery work on saris and other flowering works. The center also makes colorful ladies’ hand bags. They are trying their skills at making herbal shampoo and detergent powder, as well. The ladies who make these items make enough money to subsidize the family income.

If anyone has candle and soap making molds and formula kindly send them to.
